White Sands National Park
White Sands National Park is a photogropher’s dream! Here are a few of our favorite shots from our visit.
Life in White Sands is difficult. This cotton wood tree fights to survive in the constantly shifting sands that can uncover its roots or bury it at any time.

Many plants have found a life amongst the shifting dunes. We loved the golden hues they add to the sparse landscape.

We loved the picnicking area in White Sands. We felt like we were in the Jetsons with these cool aluminum shades covering the picnic tables

You can wander just about anywhere you want through the expansive dunes in the park. There are also several trails marked with orange posts that guide you through the dunes. There was still snow on the sand in many areas of the park when we visited in February. Even in the full blazing sun, the white gypsum sand stays cool to the touch year round. Make sure to wear sun screen to protect your skin from the intense sun and reflecting light from the sand.

The white gypsum dunes a great place to get creative. We love playing with our lens ball in areas like this where you can use it to make the other worldly environment really stand out.

Sunsets in White Sands are where the park really comes into its beauty. The low sun adds texture ands shadow to the dunes while the white gypsum sands glow and reflect the soft light of the setting sun.

Make sure to bring along your telephoto lens while exploring to capture the layers and scale of the dunes.
